Chemotaxis Co-Creation Program

What is it about?

The concept of controlled movement of cells, bacteria, and mulicellular organisms is typical to biological systems. Similar to human behavior, cells use this ability to find food ( towards glucose concentration), flee from danger ( away from poision, e.g. phenol) or get organized and oriented in order to server a greater mission ( during ferilization, e.g. Sperm towards the egg). The practical application of Chemotaxis Assays is observed when the quantification and comparison of chemotactic potency is required to differentiate compounds and treatments objectively.

Why quantitative image analysis?

A Chemotaxis Assay requires the continuous observation of cell for an extended period of time. The process of time-lapse microscopy is used to collect image data, that can be used to track the movement of cells during this time. The acquisition and evaluation of large amounts of image data is time consuming and lacks in regards to objectivity when done manually. This is the fundamental reason for us to develop solutions for this assay.
